Broken Glasses

A few weeks ago, in the morning I went to put on my glasses and they were all bent. They were right on my night stand where I had left them so I thought it was a little weired. I bent them back so I could wear them. Later that evening when we were having dinner, I was telling ted how bent my glasses were and instantly I could tell he was trying to keep a straight face. So I just kept talking about them till he spilled it! when he left for work that morning they were on the floor and he had stepped on them! He said they were really bent and the lence had fallen out, but he bent them back so I wouldn't notice, nice try!

Well tonight, I had been wearing my glasses all day. I was in the bathroom helping Ashlyn brush her hair and glanced at myself and my glasses were crooked. As I attempted to straighten them they broke in half! All I could do was laugh. Thank goodness Ted was a whiteness and I didn't have to explain to him how this happened. I just cant believe he can step on them and I gently try to bent them a little and they break! Ted made several attempts to tape them together so I can still wear them tonight and I guess until I get a new pair. They look bad! And the tape is scratchy on my nose!

Ash trying to Explain Christmas

My sweet at times daughter who LOVES to watch TV started saying "Oh my God" All the time! I was really embarrassed and tried my best to explain why we do not use that word. It was a little hard for her to understand since they say it all the time on her favorite show on the disney chanel. What do you do? I decided I needed to start taking her to church. I used to go as a kid and loved it. As I got older I got out of the habit, No more slaking! I have been a huge slacker at times in my life and this year I decided to make a change! Every new year I try to set a few realistic at the time goals. So we have been going to church this year pretty faithfully. Every Sunday I ask Ashlyn what she learned in Sunday school and she tells me her interpretation of the bible story they talked about. A few weeks ago she was telling me about Christmas and about how it is also "that guys birthday". She went on and on really excited about what she was saying, I was starting to get confused, "Ash, slow down..Who's birthday is it?" Now she is a lot louder "you know That guy, Jesus". She had the story right, but to refer to Jesus as "that guy" and so loud as we were still in church, all I can do is shake my head and run out of there fast! I still hear about it. A lady approached me on Sunday and said it was really cute, "hahaha, that guys birthday", I might think it was cute if someone else's child would have said it. Maybe I'm still a little too embarrassed....

We had our Christmas program on Sunday Ian had 6 lines and he totally had them memorized, he did so good! Ashlyn was an angel and had a bit of stage fright, all she did was shake her head no when it was her turn. It was still pretty cute. A funny story, They had their rehearsal on Saturday, they had 3 Angels all about 4 ish. The one little girl had on her wings and halo on for at the most 5 minutes. When it was their turn, this little girl screams "I don't want to be an angel, I want to be a chicken!" then walks around squawking like a chicken! I couldn't help but laugh. She didn't do it on Sunday, I think her dad talked her out of it:)

Christmas Pictures

I have had it in the back of my head for several months we need to get our Family picture taken, since Ashlyn turned 4, August. So a long time:) One day Last week Ted was messing around with his camera found the timer function and decided we could take one in front of the Christmas tree. It was a lot harder than he thought. He took over 20 pics and only 1 turned out ok. Someone wasn't looking or smiling. Ash decided she didn't want Ian touching her, crying, fighting some yelling a good hour of our day and still only 1 photo :)

Teeth....Tooth Fairy

Ian used to be terrified of pulling out his loose teeth. He would wait till it was dangling there to tell me it was loose, then try to make me pull it out, like it would be less painful! To be honest the thought of putting my fingers in his mouth totally grosses me out, then to pull the tooth out! No way!! So now, he just pulls them out like its nothing! good for me but it still grosses me out. Good thing I never attempted a career in the medical field! When we got home from church today he shows me his loose tooth, I tell him "EWWW gross, show Ted" he goes into the bathroom and pulls out his tooth and proceeds downstairs to show him. Not exactly what I meant! Boys are so crazy!

This is only the 2nd tooth he has lost at our house. The majority of the madness happens over at his Dads. My complaint is the tooth fairy he has over there. For Ians last tooth he got $50. Yep! Who gives their kid $50! Ian said his first tooth he pulled out the dear tooth fairy gave him $100!! I gave him 3$ for his tooth and he was totally cool with it, so Why?? I asked him what he does with it, he said it goes in his piggy bank..... It still is so strange to me that this happens! To my child!! That is one of SEVERAL reasons why I am not a fan of X-husbands:)

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving we went out to Teds Parents house. We are lucky they don't live that far from us. It takes us a little over an hour to get there. Where they live they have a lot of land, so Ian loves to ride his quad. He can go anywhere and ride for hours. We spent the night out there and Ian woke up with Grand pap at 5am! I have a hard time waking him up for school at 8am and he woke up on his own, totally excited to ride his quad. Ted didn't get up till 6:30 so he was just chilling on the couch waiting, waiting and waiting. It had been raining the night before so it was a little muddy in areas, Ian thought this was even more fun!

When I finally got ready to take my morning run, I was trying to keep up with Ian:) Every puddle he had to ride Thru it again and again. His pants and quad were covered in mud. He was having the best time! UNTIL We were going around a corner and Ian saw this big puddle and decided to go thru it and got stuck! Back tires were spinning him deeper and deeper in this hole, yeiks! The only time I left my cell at home was the time I needed it, go fig. I didn't want to get my running shoes muddy, but I jumped on it and tried to rock it out, ended up stalling it and didn't know how to start it again. I sent Ian running to Grand paps to grab help as I stood there looking like the dummy that got it stuck. An elderly couple stopped to see if i needed help. I could hear the lady in the car " why on earth would you ride thru the mud in that thing!" I was totally embarrassed, my shoes covered in mud! What a mess!! Finally Ted showed up and pulled it out and Ian drove off ready for some more. He rode the rest of the day. I had to scrape the mud off his shoes before I could wash them off. He said this was the BEST Thanksgiving EVER!!

Teds Birthday

Ted turned 33 on November 19Th. I decided to make him a red cake for this special day. He is always bragging about how good his moms was and I thought I would give it a try. Making a cake from scratch is something I haven't done, EVER! A little advise if you are thinking of trying this in the future, It takes a huge bottle of red food coloring. I red the ingredients before going to the store to make sure I had everything, I noticed the food coloring and paid no attention to the amount. When I was at the store I saw the food coloring and bought a 4 pack with 3 other colors. Thinking there was no way it could use a huge bottle. Well it did, so i filled up my measuring cup with tho coloring that I had then added water to fill it up. Made sense to me at the time.

Now to the frosting, you had to cook it! The first half you cook on the stove then let it cool and finish it off later. For some reason it never really blended together. To me it was a mess! Ian thought it tasted like hard whipped cream. I had to put it in the fridge for several hours to harden up.

Now for the Ted test.... After the first few bites, he scraped the frosting off and left most of the cake on his plate. It was a little dry. The Kids loved it, especially Ian. This cake took me over 4 hours to make, Im not sure if there will be a repeat for next year, maybe?? :)

Ashlyn and My camera

Today I went to use my camera and it was out of Memory. I don't remember using it recently and I have a 2 GB memory card! After looking thru them trying to find out what I should erase so I can take a few more pictures and I came across Ashlyns self made photo shoot! There are over a hundred photos she took of herself, smiling, making faces, she even brought in a few of her dolls and stuffed animals to take pictures with! She is one crazy girl! Who does that sort of thing? When your 4??

San Diego, Ca

For Halloween weekend we went to San Diego. The weather there was really nice. We went to the zoo and to Sea World. I had been to the zoo but not Sea World. It was a lot of fun. It was cool to see Ashlyns reaction to what she was seeing. I think her excitement wore off on all of us. Teds sis and family met us down there on friday so she went to Sea World with us.

Ashlyn and Ted had never been to the zoo before and they both had a great time. All of the animals were out which was really cool. After about 4 hours of walking around I convinced Ted to take the bus around which took us to the last few areas a lot faster. for some reason Ashlyn kept asking if the tigers were going to eat her. I told her several times tha animals are in cages, They wont hurt you. I guess she didn't believe me until she actually saw the cage.

Sandcastles are the best part of going to the beach. Well for some reason I made it my personal challenge to build a super big one. It is actually quite hard and it just looks like a huge mound of sand for a long time. so while the grown ups enjoyed the waves I continued to build, for hours my new castle. It really was fun!!

Happy Halloween! A little Early

We will actually be out of town for Halloween so I took the kids Trick or treating at the rec center. They had games, music and the whole staff was dressed up. Ash has a lot of classes there so it was fun for her to see all her friends dressed up. We are going to San Diego for the long weekend. I think I should bring her costume just in case they do something for Halloween at the hotel we are staying at. She loves to wear it, Halloween or not!!

Just Pj's

It is partially my fault I guess, only partially since I was the one who bought the purple skirt. The pink feather boa I have no clue who bought that for her, but she Loves it! It drives Ian crazy when she dresses like this. I think he gets embarrassed. He tells her to Just put on her PJ's and nothing else.

Dress up Queen

I was not joking when I said she scares me sometimes! I told her to get dressed, (we are going to a high school football game)and this is what she tries to come down stairs wearing! It is starting to cool down at night here so this would definitely not work, and um no feather boa is really aloud outside of the home at any time except Halloween. So she is upstairs in her room trying to find something to wear......She is too funny!

The cartwheel......

Ashlyn really, really, really wants to learn how to do a cartwheel. She takes a class at the rec center called tumbling for cheer which is perfect for her! She learns a new cheer every week which she practices over and over and over again. The dilemma is the cartwheel. I have been trying to help her and so I tried to show her I could do one, BIG MISTAKE!! :) (It kinda hurt falling on my head, and then she had to tell everyone the story, her version is much funnier. She saw it, I felt it:) She practices all the time, some are almost there and then others are not even close. I am not really sure if kids her age can do stuff like this anyway. In her class the girls are all about the same age and none of them can do it either??? Ted really surprises me sometimes. I told him she is having a problem with it and tries to help. Come to find out HE CAN DO ONE, not just one but several!! So now it is on, I'm convinced I need a second chance......Yep not a good idea on my hard wood floors! What happened! So Ted and Ash practice in the backyard and at the park where there is a lot of grass. I think I'm still a little in shock he can do a cartwheel:) So I guess we will see if he is a good teacher.

Tooo many emotions

Ashlyn has been such a whiney girl it is driving me nuts! Last night we were at soccer practice and she started crying olny about 10 times. Not a little whine but full out crying, with big aligator tears and runny nose and all for nothing. She was just having an emotional evening. I was really insensitive and couldnt help but laugh, but I thought girls acted like this when they get older and actually have to deal with issues in life. Maybe not? Maybe we are born with the just need to cry gene? Sccer practice was only an hour, that is all I could stand really, and that was it! Not a single tear the rest of the night!

Princess Ashlyn

Ashlyn loves to play dress up. She has a few princess dresses and the plastic princess shoes. This morning she was upstairs playing and I yell up to her to get dressed, she was so proud of herself that she was allready dressed. Yeah! and sometimes scary! She comes down in her Belle dress and the yellow plastic shoes. "Look mom I Match!" which is a huge thing for her:)I love it!!

The Dam and Bugs

They started a bypass route for the dam in 2003 and sould be finished by the end of this year. It has been a long time since we have been there and I was totally surprised to see the new bridge! It is soooooo HIGH up in the air!! I am not sure when it is finished if I will be able to drive on it without wanting to close my eyes. Yeiks!

My kids are bug curious. They are totally terrified if they get too close but really like looking at them and of course they want me to take a ton of pictures. When we were in Arizona yesterday we saw a huge stink bug. Kinda freaked me out:) And we saw BIG red ants. We have big ants here but they are black. Ashlyn is totally freaked out by bugs and she just screams and points then I have to figure out what she is looking at.

We stopped at a gas station that had souvenirs for Arizona. the kids stood in front of this shelf that had scorpion paper weights for quite awhile. Ted had enough time to fill up the truck and come into the store to get us. Then they had to show him everything....Snakes, Scorpions, Cactus. It was like they were star struck. They had boxes that had small cactus in them and Ash made the mistake of touching the plant. She was trying to keep it a secret and only tell Ian but she had a little blood, that's when she freaked out! That Plant Bit Me!! She was convinced it was alive!

Remember The Gym, I don't want to

OK so last night I had dreams that I was paralyzed!! I can barely move! I worked out Wed, I treadmilled it for 30 min and then worked out my arms and chest back fat my love handles:) and abs. I didn't use much weight and thought I took it pretty easy. Thursday I worked my legs. The gym has this leg press machine I really like. Did some squats and my outer thy muscles. I did the elliptical machine for 30. I was moving around really slow last night. I cant believe how sore I am! I'm really glad I'm not paralyzed! But It was so hard rolling out of bed this morning after not moving all night. So what did i do?? I went to the gym,, this time I just did the elliptical for 45 min. it did help to loosen my leg muscles a bit. My legs hurt when you touch them though. That part I don't like. I am going to Skip tomorrow and prob Sunday too... I'm thinking maybe just some cardio till I get a little stronger, that might be less painful!!

Ashlyn, The Bully!!

I took Ash and another little boy to the park today for a picnic. I was sitting on the blanket watching them while they were playing on the jungle gym. There were 2 girls that came over. 1 was smaller than ash and the other one was about a head taller. Ash totally made these kids go crying to there mom!! I was watching but I couldn't hear what was said. The mom walked her girls back over to the jungle gym and walked away to sit on the benches. The older one was trying to convince the little one to move closer to where ash and her friend were playing. She decided to sit on the bottom of the slide and cry!! I made Ashlyn come over to me and tried to get some answers. She told me she told those girls to go play somewhere else and this was her house since her and the little boy were playing house. I could not believe the girls listened to her! Maybe I'm just as snotty as her:) I showed her where the little girl was that was crying and told her she made her cry when she didn't let her play on the jungle gym. I had to remind her this was the park and not her house and everyone can play here. She was sweet to the little girl once she realized she was being a brat. She was funny when she talked to the little girl "baby do you want to come over here and play with me". She made sure she let the older one know that she was now allowed to play with her too. After that she had a lot of fun playing with the girls. Lesson learned I hope. I told Ted what had happened, of course he said she gets it from me but I'm thinking he has a lot to do with it:)

The Gym

I have decided that I need a regular workout schedule, well it is a whole lot easier if you have someone to work out with. This morning I randomly text a friend to see if they wanted to go to the gym. Well to my surprise they were on there way there! I kicked Ian out of the house to school and hurried and got dressed and was on my way. How easy was that!! No excuses I just got off my lazy butt and went!! I don't know why I don't just go, I love it there once I get there but hate the getting there. Ashlyn LOVES the gym! She always asks if she can go and I always make some excuse. So back to my plan....a schedule. I don't want to over due it but I really want to get in shape and look like don't have 2 kids (wish full thinking:)) But you never know it could happen:) Realistically I could go every day and still go bike riding with Ian at night. See I'm starting to talk myself out of it already. I just thought if I put it in writing it would be more permanent. Ashlyn starts her preschool next week. It is 4 days a week for 2 hours. I think that is being practical. I will work out 4 days a week for 2 ish hours, I guess we will see where that takes me.

Ashlyn and Swimming

I have been trying to get Ashlyn in the water more so she will start to swim. She hates the arm floaters and the life vest. She would rather not swim if she has them on. When we go over to friends pools all she will do is hang on the steps or if I get in she is stuck on me. Well my sister in law has a pool and last week we were there for quite a while and finally about an hour before we left she fell in love with these noodles. She realized it will hold her up and she can swim around and even jump into the pool!! yeah! It made the rest of the time not so crazy for me.
