Ashlyn and Swimming

I have been trying to get Ashlyn in the water more so she will start to swim. She hates the arm floaters and the life vest. She would rather not swim if she has them on. When we go over to friends pools all she will do is hang on the steps or if I get in she is stuck on me. Well my sister in law has a pool and last week we were there for quite a while and finally about an hour before we left she fell in love with these noodles. She realized it will hold her up and she can swim around and even jump into the pool!! yeah! It made the rest of the time not so crazy for me.

Ian's first day in 3rd Grade!!

He was so GRUMPY this morning. I think he was a little worried about who was going to be in his class. The school switched tracks on us so a lot of his friends are still on track 4 and we are on track 3 now. A few minutes after we got there he saw that one of his good friends was in his class and a boy from cub scout, so that put the smile back on his face. This is funny......... I cut his hair yesterday, he has had long-ish hair for quite some time now (only because it causes an argument with his father when I cut it short how I like it) I figured he needed a fresh start since it was the first day of school so off it went. Well his good friend took a double take, it was kinda funny. I thought only grown ups did stuff like that.
Ashlyn misses Ian already. She keeps asking when she gets to go to school. I have her in Pre-school but she seems to know the difference. She wants to grow up too fast!!

Ride a Bike

Today is the day we decided it is about time to show Ashlyn how to ride a bike. She got a bike for Christmas, it has training wheels and pompoms on the handle bars. She calls it her cheerleader bike. She has got on it a few times, but to actually ride around she prefers her tricycle. So we loaded the bikes in the back of the truck and took them to the park. At first she had a hard time not hitting the breaks. I would get her going and she would stop. I had a hard time running behind her for that reason. I almost fell a couple times when she stopped. I took her around the park about 3 times before she thought we were having fun and I wasn't trying to scare her. After that she was doing really well, still with her training wheels on of course. I then handed the job over to Ted. He is a lot better at this than I am. He taught Ian to ride a bike in a few hours, and also our friends kid too. I myself have no patience or stamina to run behind a child for hours, and somehow Ted can. So Ted takes Ash around the park a few times and has decided he gives himself a month to teach her to ride a bike without training wheels. I guess we will see! We go on bike rides all the time and Ash has the baby seat behind my bike. It would be fun if we could all ride together. I wouldn't have foot prints on the back of my shirt:)

Ian's out of School....

Ian is out of school for a few weeks, so we are trying to have some fun before school starts. I showed him my blog and his first question was "why don't you have any pictures of me?" That is a VERY good question! which I really don't have an answer for. If you came too my house I have tons of pictures that have been professionally taken of Ian and not that many of Ashlyn. But on my camera it is mostly Ashlyn.
Since Ian is in school he gets his pictures taken 2 times a year. He also plays soccer so I get those 2 times a year. So I get pictures of Ian 4 times a year and they are good pictures. I think the last time I took Ash to get her pictures taken was when she turned 3. Now she is 4 so I better make some time to get that done!

There favorite thing to do is play at the park. I'm really not a huge fan. Today it is 117 outside and I just melt! For some reason the kids don't seem to be bothered by it, why is that? I try to stay as long as I can stand it.....

They love to eat stuff that changes there tongue colors. This was by drinking red Gatorade.

Shopping with the girls and other random stuff

Today Ashlyn was sooo excited to go shopping with the girls. My sister in law Cheryl and a friend of mine Sarah took ashlyn out for a girls day. They went to the mall and to lunch. Ashlyn is too grown up sometimes, first it took her forever to decide what to wear and after several outfit changes she decided to wear her black leggings and her Hannah Montana shirt. then she had to decide what shoes, and then accessories. yikes! I have created a monster! A super cute one:)

When I was working she would sit with me in the bathroom every morning as I got ready for work. So everyday for 4 years watching me put on makeup and get dressed in work clothes which was a dress or dress pants she wants to look the same way when she leaves the house. I don't like it when she wears makeup, but she wants to wear it every day. I tell her over and over again how beautiful she looks without it. I let her wear lip gloss, and she has a ton of it! She carries a purse just so she has a place to put the 10 tubes that are necessary to have on her at all times..lol When she was younger she would call it lippit. It was so cute, we would all refer to our lip gloss as lippet.
Friday was Ian's last day of school! Yeah! He brought home his report card and I was really happy with his 2 B's an the rest were A's!! He got a B in math and reading. He says funny stuff sometimes, I asked him why he got a B in reading and he told me he can read better in his head. I told him it was the same whether you read out loud or in your head. He said he doesn't get any of the words wrong when he reads to himself. So I am totally curious what story he is actually reading...And Math, they started to multiply and it totally confused him he says why cant we just add and subtract, well sometimes you need to multiply. I didn't want to scare him too much and tell him it only gets harder, so we just practice and practice. He is really looking forward for 3rd grade in a few weeks. Ashlyn is happy he will be home to torment, yeah for me!! We will be able to go to the park and the pool more, which she totally loves.

Wednesday

Its crazy it is Wednesday already! I feel like I am so behind this week! Ash had swim again today, She is doing so well. I am totally surprised how not scared she is. When we go swimming she acts like a baby, but not when the cute lifeguards are helping her swim, maybe that's the trick! :)A funny story.... the guy in charge at the pool ash told me calls her Ashey, I asked her if she told him that her name was Ashlyn. She said no, she then proceeds to tell me that she wants to be called Ashley and not Ashlyn. I was trying to convince her it was good to be different. She didn't buy it. She is now only 4, sometimes she seems so grown up!

Amazingly enough I have a hard time finding ash a 1 piece Swim suit. Her mid section is pretty thick. it is hardd to pull it up over her body. it is even harder when it is wet. She gets so mad when she has to wear it, but I think she looks cute and not as flashy.....

Ashlyns 4th Birthday!!

This is how our day started, since Ashlyn has swim lessons she has decided she doesn't need to do her hair in the morning. It will just mess it up, so off we go with her crazy white girl fro. She was so excited that today is her birthday she had to call almost everyone I know. It was pretty funny. I don't remember the last time that I was excited to get older.

She has been carrying her cabbage patch baby around the past few weeks. She will randomly feed the baby. I am allowed to hold her doll if i will sit there and put the bottle in its mouth. I kinda feel silly feeding her doll, so I politely refuse. So when she gets tired of holding her I am allowed to put her doll in my purse.

For Ashlyns Birthday we just had some friends over for dinner and I attempted to make the princess castle cake she had requested. It was more like a leaning castle, but hey she was happy with it.

And what kid doesn't like to get presents! I would read the card and let her know who it was from, she would go give them a big hug before she would open the present. Then she would line it up so everyone could see what she got. She is really girly, loves clothes, shoes, makeup, barbies.......everything girly.
If you are the one that bought her thees things you were her favorite!

And of course she has to show daddy what she got. She now has a princes easy bake oven. she says she is going to make me a birthday cake, yeah! cant wait! It was funny when everyone was leaving she asked me if she can be 4 again tomorrow. I told her she can be 4 for a whole year till she turns 5. She gave me the biggest hug like that was the best present she has ever had. She thanked me, Ted and Ian for coming to her party. I hope she continues to be as grateful as she is now.

First Day of Swim

Today was the first day of swim lessions, Of course we had to take a few pictures in the car:)

She did really well. There was a little girl her age who all she did was cry and then there were 3 boys that were so hyper and all over the place, the teacher thought she was a angel. I loaded her up with vitamin C all night so she felt a lot better today, she wasn't having "issues".

Sunday Morning

Today as we were getting ready for church Ashlyn announces that she has "issues". I asked her to repeat herself a few times because I wasn't sure that I heard her right. Finally she told me she had a runny nose. That was her "issue". I think she is coming down with a summer cold, just a runny nose for now. I really hope it doesn't progress to anything else.

Tomorrow she starts swim Lessons. She is a little scared and is still telling me she doesn't want to go. I have only been hearing this for 2 months now. I took her to Ian's when he had them and I was trying to show her how much fun they would be, but still no. it will be even harder if she doesn't feel well. I guess we will see how tomorrow goes....
